University dropout rates
In 2020, 28 % of Bachelor students and 21 % of Master students dropped out of university without a degree. The rate at universities is 35 %, compared to 20 % at universitied of applied sciences.
Very high dropout rates can be observed with Bachelor students in the humanities at Universities (49 %) and in math and sciences (50 %). In legal studies, economics/business administration, and social sciences, the rate is 21 %. For teacher trainings, it is as ow as 10%.
At universities for applied sciences, math and science also show high droptout rates (39 %), compared to 13 % for legal studies, economics/business administration, and social sciences.
The COVID-19 pandemic did not change the rates significantly.
